With emphasis in domestic and international entertainment, media,
and intellectual property matters, The Mathis Law Group, works
with U.S.
and multi-national record companies, music publishers, recording artists,
producers, songwriters and senior entertainment industry executives and
private businesses, responsible for the negotiation of agreements relating to
the sale of several music companies, including independent record companies and
music publishers. The Firm's activities include serving as
consultant to a major international music and publishing companies with regard
to operations, management, personnel, strategies and future business models as
well as acting as counsel to technology/internet companies which have applications
and solutions in areas of recorded music, film and television. The Firm advises
corporate clients in structuring of acquisitions, analyzing data and financing
in complex transactions.
The Firm represents well known artists,
musicians and designers, in transactions involving the acquisition and sale of
significant music assets, negotiates and closes complex stock and asset
purchase agreements. This includes movie productions. Mr. Mathis has
co-produced recorded album releases. The Law firm clients also include a number of
songwriters, recording artists and producers, as well as artists heirs, who are successors to artists and writers.

Paul
Mathis, worked as an Accountant, with Peat
Marwick, Mitchell, CPAs, now KPMG. As a Ford Foundation Fellow, he has a Juris Doctorate,
from Vanderbilt University School of Law.
He is licensed/admitted to practice in Michigan and Mississippi, the MI
and MS, Federal District Courts, and the United States Tax Court. He is admitted to United States Court of
Appeals for the Fifth and Sixth Circuit and admitted to practice, pro hac vice, in the federal and
state cases, in Florida, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Virginia. The
Firm has successfully prosecuted Lanham
Act, Trademark and Copyright violation cases, in Florida, Mississippi, Nevada,
Michigan, New York and Pennsylvania. Mr.
Mathis is a recognized, experienced, entertainment, business, and transactional
counsel, in movie, music publishing and entertainment. He is general counsel for several musicians
and Grammy nominated, R&B artists,
several Jazz Artists and Rock and Roll
Hall of Fame Inductees. He has negotiated all manner of Contracts, in the
Entertainment Industry. He routinely serves as guest lecturer and panelist, for
podcasts, University Lectures, and roundtable discussions.
